Phonautics was founded in Dortmund in 2007. The band has its influence from different genres like punkrock, hardcore, post rock and noise as well as bands like the Cure. They toured in Germany, France, Spain and Switzerland, and released two albums and a tape (inselkind records).
Phonautics broke up in 2018, when guitar player Tom died.
